Dr. Philip A. Knall III passed peacefully into heaven on August 15, 2023, the Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary being Assumed into Heaven. Phil was comforted with love and surrounded by his wife, his 3 children, family, and dear friends. Phil was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 1, 1949 and moved to Phoenix over 40 years ago.
Phil graduated from The Ohio State University’s College of Dentistry before moving to Arizona to start his own dental practice. As a successful and well-respected dentist in Phoenix for over 20 years, Phil (or Doc as many called him) also made time to do the things he loved: golfing, watching his Buckeyes, sailing his sailboat in San Diego, and flying after obtaining his pilot’s license. Phil lived life to the fullest, but Ohio State Football and golf were his absolute favorites. Phil was the founder of The Ohio State Alumni Club-Phoenix Chapter in 1980. In 1986 he became a vital Active member of the Phoenix Thunderbirds, eventually becoming a Life Member.
Our amazing Phil showed great courage, strength, determination and effort as he dealt with his more difficult health challenges. He was a warrior and did it with grace. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Phil’s name to: Muhammed Ali Parkinson’s Center; The Thunderbirds Charities; or Ohio State Phoenix Alumni Chapter. Phil’s Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday Sept. 27, 2023 at his favorite local bar HB Hanratty’s Pub in Phoenix from 4:00–7:00 pm.
