Robert “Bob” Cotter

Robert Ross “Bob” Cotter, age 72, of Marysville, died peacefully Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at his home. A retired educator, he served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and coach. With a career spanning 40 years, Bob was a former principal at both Fairborn High School and Warren High School and served most of his tenure at Marysville, where he taught and was assistant principal at Marysville High School. His coaching career included varsity football and varsity wrestling. For many summers, he was the Marysville Municipal Pool manager and sports editor and writer for the Marysville Journal Tribune. A 1967 graduate of Bishop Watterson High School, he received a bachelor’s degree from Ohio Northern University and a master’s degree from Wright State University. Bob was skilled in so many areas, as he wasn’t afraid of hard work. He was a dearly devoted husband, father and grandfather.

An avid reader, golfer and Neil Diamond fan, he was known for “never knowing a stranger” and his storytelling. Bob loved to help and serve others. His positions of servitude included, an honorable discharged member of the US Army, a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, …

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Underwood Funeral Home [Marysville] where the Holy Rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Marysville, Ohio.

Mark Barrett, Gone Ahead

Mark J. Barrett, age 72, passed away on December 8, 2021 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Mark graduated from Bishop Watterson in 1967 then became a MP in the Army and was awarded the Soldier’s Medal for Heroism. He furthered his education and was a graduate of Park College class of 1976 and Capital University class of 1982.

He originally started March 30, 1970 as a Deputy with the Franklin County Sheriff’s office—he was promoted to a Sergeant October 7, 1979—was promoted to Inspector… He retired January 31, 2014 as Chief Deputy.

Friends may call Tuesday, December 14 from 4pm – 7pm at Jerry Spears Funeral Home, 2693 West Broad, where service will be held at 10:30am Wednesday, Fr. Leo Connolly officiating.
