Our 1963 Immaculate Conception eighth grade had a fiftieth reunion and we were asked to give a biography of the last fifty years. My first thought was that I have had “A Wonderful Life”. Like George Bailey I never moved out of Clintonville and married my childhood Sweet Heart, Molly Siemer.

We were married May 3, 1969 at Our Lady of Peace church. We rented an apartment in Clintonville and later bought our first home on Dunedin Rd. Two houses later we built a house on Oakland Park across from Immaculate Conception where we lived for over 30 years and raised our family. We sold our home five years ago and live in the Northwest area of Columbus.

We had three children: two boys and a daughter. They all graduated from IC and Watterson. Molly and I both were active at Immaculate both in the school and church.  We have eight grandchildren and none of them are Browns fans!

I started working in construction as a Plumber and Molly attended Ohio State. I worked in plumbing and became a Master Plumber in 1974. Molly stayed at home and raised our kids. Along the way I graduated from Franklin University.

I took the test to become a Columbus Fireman and was appointed March 12, 1973. I retired March 1, 2000 a Captain. I worked most of my career in Clintonville at Station 13 by North High School and in the University area.

When our daughter started first grade Molly went back to Ohio State to finish her degree. She always wanted to be a teacher. Four years later in 1987 Molly graduated with a degree in Education. She did this while raising three kids, her husband and doing something she called cooking. Ask Rocky Amicon!  Molly taught First, Fourth and Fifth grades in the Columbus Public School system at Duxberry and Huy Road Elementary schools. Both were in the Linden area. Molly retired in 2013. She had 27 years teaching.

Molly and I have kept close friendships with quite a few of our classmates from Watterson. Molly has been in a card club with the “girls” she was friends with and graduated from Watterson with for over 43 years. They have never really played cards and now it a restaurant once a month club. The “boys” played basketball on Thursday nights through the winter and then had a golf league in the spring. The Eagle League, at Foxfire golf course for well over 40 years. They are still playing some form of golf today.  I was the only one with sense enough not to take up the game of golf. Women’s clubs had a lot to do with that.

Now that we have reached our twilight years we spend our time planning reunions and watching and visiting grandchildren. Two in Long Island, three in Cleveland and three in Amlin Ohio.

We are both looking forward to visiting with everyone at our #BWHS1967 fiftieth!
