Wow—it’s difficult to believe it will be 50 years since high school graduation! After Watterson, I graduated from Ohio State and went on to receive my M.S. and Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Yale. That was followed by a 2 year postdoctoral position at U.C. Berkeley. I landed a job at ICI, now AstraZeneca (an Anglo-Swedish pharmaceutical company) in Wilmington, DE. I had the fortune to have numerous positions within the Company that allowed extensive travel in Europe, Scandinavia and occasionally Japan for both business and pleasure. This included living in the UK for two years.

I met my wife, Maggie, at AstraZeneca. We dated several years and then married in 1994. We both lived in Wilmington, DE and when we married, moved to Kennett Square, a fun, small town, in PA about 11 miles from Wilmington.

I retired from AstraZeneca in 2010 as executive director of oncology development, marketed products. Maggie retired as director of clinical development IS, one year before I did and was the ‘pilot program’ for the next phase of our lives. Retirement has been great! I’m as busy as I was when I was working, but doing more ‘fun’ activities. Volunteering has kept me very busy. I’m actively involved with the Lion’s Club and with Camp Dreamcatcher, a local non-profit providing therapeutic and educational programs to HIV/AIDS impacted youth and their families.

Off-road biking and running are my main outdoor activities. Maggie and I enjoy traveling and take trips throughout the year. One of my hobbies is pyrotechnics and I put on a great 4th of July display (just ask my neighbors!).

I’ve kept in close contact with Paul Morrill over the years and recently he and I have been in contact with Bob Alberini, Denis Poirier and John Bergman. I’m really looking forward to the reunion and seeing my other classmates. I greatly appreciate the efforts of the reunion committee in pulling this together!
